When was CoolSculpting FDA cleared?
Developed by world renowned physicians, CoolSculpting was cleared for use by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2010, Health Canada and the European Union. In addition, there are more than 100 peer-reviewed publications about CoolSculpting.
Is it safe?
CoolSculpting® systems are controlled cooling devices designed with built-in safety measures. If sensors detect that the skin is getting too cold, the system will shut down automatically.
Does it hurt?
For the vast majority of patients, CoolSculpting is not painful or uncomfortable. During the initital several minutes of the procedure, patients may experience a crampy cold sensation, and some may experience pulling, tugging, mild pinching, tingling, stinging and aching at the treatment site. These sensations subside as the area becomes numb. Many patients sleep during the procedure. When the applicator is removed and the 2 minute massage is performed, patients can sometimes experience temporary stinging, cramping and tingling, and a short-lived pin prick sensation. During the procedure patients may experience sensations of pulling, tugging, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping at the treatment site.
Will it damage my skin?
No. Fat freezes at a different temperature than skin, which is how CoolSculpting is able to specifically target fat cells while not damaging surrounding tissues.
How many procedures have been done?
As the world's leading non-surgical fat reduction treatment, more than 11 million CoolSculpting treatments in over 80 countries have been performed worldwide.
Which areas can be treated?
CoolSculpting is FDA-cleared AND Health Canada approved for the treatment of visible fat bulges in the abdomen, flank (love handle), inner thigh, outer thigh (saddle bag), along with front bra fat (axillary puff), back fat, underneath the buttocks (banana roll), upper arms, knees and the submental areas (double chin). It is also FDA-cleared to affect the appearance of lax tissue with submental area treatments.
Does CoolSculpting tighten the skin?
This is a great question which many patients have. CoolSculpting is brilliant at eliminating fat, however, it is not designed to tighten skin. Fortunately, the FDA now clears CoolSculpting to not only permanently reduce neck and chin fat, but to also improve lax tissues in the submental area. CoolSculpting is the first and only non-surgical fat reduction technology to be FDA-cleared in this manner.
Is there downtime?
There is little to no downtime after the procedure. Patients return to daily activites immediately after the procedure.
Are there any side effects?
Following the procedure, typical side effects may include tingling, tenderness, cramping, redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, , stinging, aching, itching, skin sensitivity and numbness. These side effects are temporary and generally resolve within days or weeks.
Will I be bored during treatment?
Not at all! This is your time to escape. You'll receive treatment in a spa-like relaxing suite with access to Netflix, healthy snacks, other services and treatments, and a gourmet lunch prepared by our Cordon-Bleu-trained chef for those planning a longer stay. Some patients catch up on reading or work, however the majority of our CoolSculpting patients love the pampered "me" time.
How many treatments are required?
Typically, ideal patients can expect two treatment visits, spaced between 4-12 weeks apart. However, the treatment plan is 100% based on your starting point, your desired end result and your expectations. At Bense SurgiSpa, we believe that every body is welcome and we all deserve to feel and look our best! Should more treatments be required based on our starting point, we will discuss this in detail in your free consultation, in our judgement-free environment.
How much does it cost?

How do I know if CoolSculpting is right for me?
If you're looking for a non-surgical method of eliminating stubborn fat in specific areas, CoolSculpting is likely the answer. It is not a weight-loss solution and it does not replace a healthy lifestyle.
What kind of results do people see?
People generally experience a 27% reduction of fat cells in target areas per treatment. While some results may be noticeable within 4-6 weeks, expect the most noticeable results to be apparent 12-16 weeks after treatment. Why? The reason is because it takes the body this time to fully flush the dead fat cells through our lymphatic system.
Am I going to lose weight with CoolSculpting?
Sometimes no matter what we do, no matter how many hours we workout or how well we eat, those stubborn bulges just won't budge! Although CoolSculpting is not a weight loss technology on its own, you will see undeniable results and look better from every angle!
